Marian Gold (‘Alphaville’) declares ’First Snow’ to be cult

In September 2019, Marian Gold, lead singer of the german million-sellers ’Alphaville’ (Forever Young, Big In Japan, both 1984) ordered a vinyl copy (one of the last five in stock!) of the George Hennig album ’First Snow’(released 1978). He writes in his mail that he was ’blown away’ by listening to the downloaded versions of the songs. He found a review of the album on an american website specialising in ’lost gems’. Marian then sent George a copy of the new Alphaville double album ’Strange Attractor’ whilst a copy of ’First Snow’ travelled from Basel to Berlin. Marian and George kept contact by mail, exchanging stories about their lives as composers and musicians. They hope to meet each other face to face later this year.

Im September 2019 bestellt Marian Gold, Sänger der deutschen Eighties-Erfolgsband ‘Alphaville’ (Forever Young, Big In Japan, beide 1984) bei uns ein Vinyl-Exemplar des ersten George Hennig-Albums ‘First Snow’ (erschienen 1978 auf Teldec, Hamburg). Wie er George per mail erzählt, ist er auf einer “Piraten-website” auf das Album gestossen, und dass ihn diese alten Songs sehr beeindrucken. Nach einer mailreichen Woche sendet Marian George ‘Strange Attractor’, das neue Doppelalbum von Alphaville, während George ihm zeitgleich das gewünschte Vinyl-Exemplar von ‘First Snow’ nach Berlin schickt. Marian und George pflegen seither einen losen Kontakt, tauschen Gedanken, Geschichten und zahllose biografische Parallelen als Musiker und Komponisten aus. Und beide hoffen, einander eines Tages persönlich zu treffen.
