’Red Rackham’, a touch of ’The Zodiacs’

Peter Rusch & George Hennig have shared friendship and a musical partnership for more than four and a half decades. After starting out together 1974 (picture) with ’Wishing Well’, Peter became 1978 the leading member of ’The Zodiacs’ whilst George tried his luck in several bands (‘The JB Band’, ‘The Excelsiors’, ‘The Pills’) until he was finally ready to join his old friend’s flagship band again in 1999. Twenty years and five Zodiacs albums later, it seemed the band’s history had come to an end. But not the music. Soon after, Peter and George discussed the vision of an album based on the idea that Peter would sing some of George’s songs once again. ’Red Rackham’ was born. Twelve tracks are almost finished and waiting to be mixed and mastered at ’Tool Recording Studio Arlesheim’ by Silvio Panosetti, a ’family-member’ since the early days of ’Wishing Well’ in 1974.

Peter Rusch und George Hennig sind seit über 45 Jahren freundschaftlich und musikalisch verbunden. Nachdem sie 1974 als ‘Wishing Well’ (Bild) erste Erfolge feierten, gründete Peter 1978 ‘The Zodiacs’, während George in verschiedenen Bands (‘The JB Band’, ‘The Excelsiors’, ‘The Pills’) sein Glück versuchte. 1999 dann – beide befanden sich in einer kreativen Pause – beschlossen sie, als ‘The Zodiacs’ nochmals zusammen ein neues gemeinsames Band-Kapitel aufzuschlagen. 20 Jahre und 5 Zodiacs-Alben später scheint die Geschichte der Zodiacs definitiv zu einem Ende gekommen zu sein. Nicht so die Musik. Peter und George entwickeln die Idee eines Albums nach dem Motto ‘Rusch sings Hennig’. ‘Red Rackham’ war geboren. Zwölf Songs sind im ‘Swan’s Studio’ Oberwil fast fertigestellt. Abgemischt und gemastert wird in Arlesheim bei Silvio Panosetti, einem Mitglied der ‘Zodiacs-Familie’ seit den frühen Tagen von Wishing Well 1974.
